Healing FAQ's

What does 'Hands-on' mean ?
Although Spiritual healing is often called hands-on, the hands normally will not touch the body in the healing methods practised generally and taught on my courses. This type of spiritual healing is sometimes called 'magnetic' because of this, but some people may have another idea of the meaning of magnetic, depending upon their training. In this healing therapy some healers use an actual contact process, called contact healing. A patient must give permission to receive actual physical contact, and at all times there is no contact with any sensitive areas of the body.

Do I need to be religious?
Definitely not. Healing is conducted in an interdenominational environment. The only belief you require to become a healer is to have the compassion for your fellow man/woman, to desire the ability to heal others, and the determined intention to succeed. The courses often develop spiritual awareness (an awareness of your own spirituality). This is NOT spiritualism, although those that heal in a spiritualist church must have taken the approved SNU training course and need to be fully paid-up members of the SNU. Healing in a spiritualist church is only one aspect of healing. Similarly you may find that healing is available in Catholic and Protestant churches also. Asian members of the community and other ethnic groupings may also give healing within their own belief systems.  Healing is open to all, whether they have a religious background or not. Religion is not a pre-requisite of either receiving or giving healing.

Is this a Complementary Therapy ?
Healing is complementary to conventional medicine, NOT alternative. It is therefore imperative that any participant continues any current medical treatment, as prescribed.

Can it Cure ?
No healer claims to 'cure'. All healing is complementary, as above. The healing is 'holistic', and acts upon the mind, body and emotional/spiritual aspects of mankind to create a harmony of being often resulting in easement of disease symptoms.

What qualities do I need?
There are no particular features that single-out any particular person as a healer. You will need a compassion for your fellow-man, linked to a desire to help others on their pathway through life, coupled with a serious desire and intention to heal. Furthermore it is necessary to undergo a course of training to know how to deal with sick people with safety and consideration.

Is it a gift ?
Everybody has the innate ability to heal, given the desire and intention, with a compassion for their fellow-man. Not all people are ready to do so.  However, the natural ability to heal can be described as a gift, and it is the intention of any course to develop those abilities to their full potential.

Are there rules of conduct ?
Very definitely. No action of any kind that encroaches upon the privacy of the individual is allowed. There are strict rules of confidentiality to be observed. All individual healing should be performed by an accredited, insured (Approved) healer, and no claims are made regarding 'cures'.  The Code of Conduct is strict and comprehensive and is designed to protect both healer and patient.

Can I get Qualification?
Yes. All would-be healers are recommended to take the approved course that undertakes to train healers to the accepted professional standard. This is available from the Fellowship of Healers organisation (The FoH - see below), and other associations. Those who complete the Course and are members of the association get the certificate of accreditation, and are insured.   You are then qualified to practice Healing independently, in private practice, or within the Healthcare environment.

What is the F.o.H
F.o.H. stands for The Fellowship of Healers. Click on the initials to find out more.

Do I need Insurance ?
As a student on a Course of Healing, you will probably not need insurance, as you are classified as 'student', or 'trainee'. Even later as you practice your healing skills, you are a 'probationer' and should not be practising without supervision by an accredited healer. As a member of an approved Healing Body, Association or Group (such as the FoH) you will be insured, probably as a part of your membership. However when you are accredited and wish to heal members of the public, then you must be insured. Insurance can be obained through membership of the Fellowship of Healers (The FoH - see above).

What is Reiki Healing ?
Reiki is just one of a modern form of healing based on a traditional discipline from Japan. There are several forms depending whether it is Japanese, Tibetian, and so on.  Again, Reiki is just one of the many forms of healing that have surfaced recently, usually based upon ancient cultures; there are many, many more.
